Interview with Erwin, by Bruno (Putrid Dysentery #2)

"For all of you who are into this scene for a few years, LAST DAYS OF HUMANITY is a name you really know and a band you truely appreciate if you love Gore-Grind!! But with their debut CD, this Dutch band has set further the boundaries of Gore-Grind!! Here's a chat with bassist Erwin...

1)Hi Erwin, what's up?
I am fucking fine, just got my first beet for today, and there are more to come.

2)Can you make L.D.O.H. bio?
L.D.O.H. started about 8 years ago making pure Noise with Hans(v + g), Erwin(d) and Dennis(b). After some time we've started to make songs with little structure in them. The line-up was: Hans(v), William(g), Mark(g), Martie(b) and Glen(d). L.D.O.H. recorded 2 split-ep's with this line-up. Then Anne took over Mark on guitar and Erwin rejoined on bass and Martie left. With this line-up we've recorded one split ep and the first cd on Bones Brigade. Then Glen and Hans left, and Bart started to do the vocals and Rutger took over the drums. The line-up is now: Bart(v), William(g), Anne(g), Erwin(b/v) and Rutger(d). With this line-up they've recorded a split lp with Murder Corporation which will be released in July/August.

3)Why did you choose LAST DAYS OF HUMANITY as a band's name?
We have chosen this name for 8 or 9 years ago, so I really can't remember, but I think it suits to the music(?) we make.

4)How would you describe your sound/music?
Brutal as fuck.

5)Your lyrix are pretty much gore/medical oriented. So, what inspire you to write such gory lyrix?
We really haven't any lyrix with our demos/7" or 'The sound of rancid juices..." CD, Hans took a dictionary and looked for words that were easy to remember, ha ha. Just for our upcoming split-LP, we have lyrics.

6)You've released 3 split EP's. Can you introduce' em?
Our first split EP contains some live tracks which are really shitty recordings, on the second there are some studio recordings, and on the last one are also studio recordings. This last one is the best of all 3 EP's.

7)What do you think of the bands that shared split-EP's with your band?
The bands on the first two are cool, but RAKITIS(on the third) are really kicking bloody assholes!

8)What do you think of the black-metal trend?
Pathetic mostly!

9)What do you know of the french scene?
Sorry we don't know many bands from France, but the bands that I know are cool like RUNNING GUTS(they arrived!).

10)Your debut CD was recently released. Can you introduce it?
Well, as you know, it took 1,5 years before it has been released. It contains 27 brutal nice songs, so everyone who's sick enough should get it from Bones Brigade or from us.

11)This CD took over a year to be released, so can you tell us what went wrong with the German label which was supposed to release it?
The record label that had planned to release it couldn't come up with the cash and Nicolas, the bloody alien, was kind enough, so he did it. Now he is getting rich and we stay broke as always, ha ha...

12)The title of your CD "The sound of rancid juices..." can be found as lyrix for an old CARCASS song. So, did you choose the title from this song or is it pure coincidence?
I think it's a coincidence, because our singer came up with all titles.

13)Are you happy with Bones Brigade and with the way they have promote this CD?
Yeah, Nicolas is a cool and fair guy, only good things about him and Bones Brigade!

14)The cover and the artwork of your CD are very gruesome. Where did you take the pictures from?
The front picture came from some magazine, the other ones I don't know, you should ask Nicolas.

15)Your singer Hans and your drummer left the band. Can you tell why they leave the band and introduce their replacement?
Our drummer left because he just didn't feel like making music anymore. Hans left because everything went slow, he just quit. Our new singer is Bart, he will be on our split-LP. Our new drummer is Rutger, who is involved in some other bands.

16)By the way, is Hans really uttering words on the CD or is he just moaning?
Ha ha, I guess he's just moaning, but he's always moaning the same way, so I believe between all the "uuurggsh" and "aaarrgghs" are some words.

17)How are the reaction for this CD?
They are just great, we've never thought we would get a such good response.

18)How would you describe your musical evolution?
From the beginning 'til now, with every new release there is more structure in the songs, but we will never get soft, just try to get our split-LP with MURDER CORPORATION when it's out.

19)What about the Dutch scene? Any great band from your area you'd like to promote?
There are many HC/Punk bands over here, but just a few Grind/Gore bands, the only ones I know are LAST DAYS OF HUMANITY, INHUME, SUPPOSITORY and I SCREAM: PROTEST.

20)Your new drummer Rutger also plays in many other bands, so do you think it'll be hard for your band?
Yes, he plays in some other bands, but it has never been a problem for us.

21)You played this year in Paris. How was it?
Paris was fucking insane, we really hope to play in France again, but than in a club where you can drink alcohol inside, ha ha...

22)By the way, have you played a lot of gigs?
We have played tons of gigs, but as most of you know, we've been around for 8 or 9 years.

23)What will be your future releases?
There will be a mini-CD out which contains our first two demo-tapes. In a few months our split-LP with Murder Corporation will be out. In november, a split-EP with MIND will be out. I've spoken with Bones Brigade about doing a full-length CD early next year. That's all for this moment.

24)What merchandize is available from you?
T-Shirts are sold out, but we'lll have new ones in a short time, just write ok? We still sell the CD for $11 world wide.
